DeeDee and I are geeky fangirls when it comes to genealogy.

We like to wander around old cemeteries, look at census records, dig around in old documents and books, and pretend we’re Sherlock Holmes when trying to solve genealogical mysteries.  (Okay.  I don’t know if DeeDee pretends she’s Sherlock Holmes.  She might not, but I do.  I’ve been reading and watching a lot of Sherlock Holmes lately and I have a crush on him.)

But we also like other geeky things like: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Eric Northman the vampire, Firefly, Bones, The Office, fanfiction, libraries, and Captain Tight Pants. We get really excited and squeeful about fictional stories, so it just makes sense that we get squeeful over family histories that we discover.

DeeDee is an archives librarian.  I’ll let her tell you about herself.  I am a legal/video transcriber who transcribes and researches court cases.  I have a Master’s Degree in Library Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.  I’m currently in the process of putting together my portfolio to see if I have what it takes to get my Board Certification in Genealogy.

We want to find other people like us. Hence, this blog.  Hence is a great word. It makes me sound old-timey.  So hence forth let this blog be more entertaining than this introductory post.
